Reality TV star Taylor Frankie Paul has issued a new statement after her season of The Bachelorette was canceled, saying she plans to share more of her story soon.
The 31-year-old Secret Lives of Mormon Wives alum released the message through her spokesperson following the circulation of a video—first published by TMZ—showing an alleged domestic dispute between Paul and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen. The footage quickly spread across social media.
According to the statement, shared with People, Paul is “grateful for ABC’s support” as she focuses on her family’s safety. It adds that after enduring years of alleged mental and physical abuse and threats, she is now finding the strength to confront the situation and protect herself and her children.
The statement also highlighted that many women remain silent while dealing with controlling or abusive ex-partners, noting that Paul had previously stayed quiet out of fear of retaliation and public scrutiny. She is now reportedly seeking support and considering her next steps before speaking publicly in more detail.
An earlier message from her team claimed the viral video lacks context and suggested that Mortensen was the aggressor.
Following the video’s release, Disney Entertainment confirmed that the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, which Paul was set to lead, has been put on hold. The network stated its priority is supporting those involved. The show had been scheduled to premiere on March 22 and its cancellation is expected to result in significant financial losses.
The decision came shortly after the video surfaced, showing a heated altercation between Paul and Mortensen, with their child present. The incident dates back to 2023, when Paul entered a plea in abeyance to an aggravated assault charge—meaning it could be dismissed if conditions are met.
Additionally, production on the latest season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives had already been paused days earlier due to concerns related to Paul’s past.
